Ten Years Since My West Ham First-Team Debut
Ten years after my West Ham first-team debut in the Europa League, I looked back at the route to that moment. The season before had been affected by injury, so I did not assume an opportunity would arrive. Pre-season started early because of the European schedule, and I joined a group training with senior players in Cork.

Being around that squad made the possibility feel real. I had trained with first-team players before, but travelling and preparing with them was different. I watched teammates get their chance at Upton Park and wanted to earn mine. There were setbacks and almost-moments along the way, including a trip where I was late for the plane and another match where a red card changed the plan for substitutions.
When my debut finally came, the result did not go our way. On the bus afterwards, I was still taking in the fact that I had played for West Ham. The club means a great deal to me, including the staff and people behind the scenes who made it feel like a family. One appearance was not the career I had imagined, but it is a moment nobody can take away.
