Inside Our TST Run With Edmonton Rangers

My TST vlog follows Edmonton Rangers from the journey to the pitch. The tournament put a $1 million prize in sight, but our first job was to get through a demanding group. We arrived after a long day of travel and had little time before the opening match.

A fast start

The first game gave us the result we needed. The match footage shows me scoring twice as Rangers moved ahead, and we finished with a 5–2 win. I felt good afterwards, though there was no chance to settle: Furia FC, a side backed by Neymar, were next.

We went in front early against Furia, then watched them take control. Their movement and finishing made it a difficult night. Losing that match meant the final group fixture against Orlando Pirates carried real pressure for both teams.

Finding a way through

Orlando led before we pulled level. Target-score play kept the match open, with the number of players on the pitch reducing as the game went on. Rangers found the decisive goal and came through from behind. The celebrations in the footage show what that meant to the squad.

The round of 32 brought another tight contest, this time against Crew FC, a team associated with Sergio Agüero. We equalised late to reach target-score play, but Crew scored the winner and ended our run. I was disappointed because I believed in our team, even though many people had not expected us to go far.

This vlog captures both sides of tournament football: the rush of a comeback and the sudden end that follows one goal. I left proud of the boys and convinced we could return stronger.
