Inside NDL’s Baller League Final Four Day
The day of the Baller League Final Four started with a trip to the O2 and a lot of anticipation around NDL. I filmed the build-up, the team gathering and some of the moments that usually disappear once the match coverage starts.
The hours before the arena
We met up before the event, talked about the day ahead and made our way through the hotel and venue. There was excitement, plenty of joking and the familiar feeling that all the preparation had led to this point. I was clear in the vlog that I would not be playing, but I still wanted to be around the squad and record what the day felt like.
The behind-the-scenes footage is part of the story. Cameras came out, teammates caught up and the mood moved between relaxed conversation and focus on the games. It is easy to see only the spectacle of a Final Four; I wanted viewers to see the people and the waiting that come before it.
What the team focused on
In the team discussion captured in the video, the focus turned to pressing, individual battles and using the squad across the game. There was attention to the opposition's wide play and to keeping enough energy for repeated efforts. The message from the group was about communicating, making brave passes and working together.
The vlog follows that build-up into the arena. It is a snapshot of an important day for NDL from my place alongside the team, with the atmosphere and preparation that the match result alone cannot show.
